It's TRUE!!!
It sharpens your senses, and is still used in USAF, especially on high alert, when the pilots sits in the planes for hours waiting for the "go" order, or if it is WHEN the get the "go", I can't remember...
They uses "uppers" and "downers"; "downers" when on "low" alerts, but still in the plane...
